Додек је мома при мајка,
До ту је бела и црвена.
До ту је одила, шетала,
Момински песни пејала.
Момински песни пејала,
Момински ора играла.
Годи се, зацрнела се,
Oжени се, закопа се.
А што се свекор, свекрва?
Това је црно црнило.
А што се девер и золва?
Това је жолто жолтило.
А што се малките деца?
Това се ситни синџири.
А што је китка шарена?
Това је првото либе.
When a girl still lives with her mother,
Then she is fair and rosy.
She goes out walking,
She sings girl's songs.
She sings girl's songs,
She dances girl's dances.
She is happy, becomes sullied,
Gets married, and is buried.
And what about her father-in-law, mother-in-law?
They are black as ink.
And what about her brother-in-law and sister-in-law?
They are yellow jaundice.
And what about her little children?
They are like tiny chains.
And what about her multicolored bouquet?
It is her first love.
